Job Description



AECOM is seeking a Ports & Marine Project Engineer to be based in Virginia Beach, VA area. You will be joining a global team of 500+ maritime specialists who support a wide range of maritime developments including container terminals, LNG facilities, waterfront developments, federal maritime facilities, cruise and ferry terminals, marinas and harbors as well as coastal schemes such as beach development and coastal protection schemes. 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Under the supervision of Senior Project Engineers, be part of teams responsible for the design of small-to-large-scale Ports & Marine projects
  • Conduct engineering design under the supervision of an experienced engineer
  • Create designs, calculations, sketches, diagrams, schematic drawings, and final working drawings under the supervision of an experienced engineer
  • Collect and analyze data under the supervision of an experienced engineer
  • Perform specific and moderate portions of a broader assignment of an experienced engineer
  • Use computer software as a tool for solving basic engineering problems
  • Perform work in accordance with agreed upon budget and schedule under supervision
  • Identify problems, determine accuracy and relevance of information, use sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations
  • Demonstrate good presentation and communication skills in English, including report and proposal writing skills
  • Provide guidance to entry level engineers
  • Assist in the preparation of technical specifications and contract documents for maritime projects
  • Participate in site visits and field investigations to gather data and assess existing conditions
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure integrated design solutions
  • Contribute to the development of cost estimates and project schedules
  • Stay current with industry standards, regulations, and best practices in maritime engineering

Qualifications



Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors in Civil Engineering, or Maritime Engineering with 4 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Due to the projects associated with the position a US Citizenship is required
  • Professional Engineer Registration with the ability to obtain a Virginia State Professional Engineer Registration within 1 year
  • Project Management experience in seaport related infrastructure

Preferred

Qualifications

:

  • Previous experience in leading projects to required quality, timeliness, and budget parameters
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
  • Experience with computer aided design (AutoCAD)
  • Experience with ArcGIS
  • Previous experience in maintaining client relationships
  • Experienced in planning, design, and construction management
  • Previous experience with Naval Facilities Engineering Systems Command (NAVFAC) planning and design
