What To Expect
Tesla is looking for a highly motivated Manufacturing Engineer to launch manufacturing lines for our cutting-edge battery products. Battery development is at the heart of our company and this is an exciting opportunity work directly the central challenge with electric vehicles – battery cost. Tesla is a demanding and fast-paced environment where you will work with a highly motivated team on extremely challenging projects.

In addition to developing manufacturing equipment and processes, manufacturing engineers work with cross-functional teams throughout the entire product lifecycle. You will work closely with design engineering, quality and production to take battery design changes and new battery designs from initial concept through prototype development and into full production.

What You'll Do
Develop and launch all new manufacturing processesIdentify root causes of production bottlenecks, equipment malfunctions, and variability, using first principles thinking to drive sustainable solutionsDesign, implement, and refine manufacturing processes to maximize efficiency, reduce waste, and ensure the highest levels of product qualityCollaborate and manage internal and external equipment integrators from equipment development through handover to local operations teamsInstall, commission, and qualify new equipment and fixtures for production implementationUse manufacturing data to inform decisions, track progress, and identify areas for improvement in real-timeCreate detailed documentation for equipment handover to operations teamTroubleshoot processes capability and stability through root cause analysis and design of experimentsTravel domestically/internationally to help support equipment FATs and across Tesla sites as needed (<50% Travel expected)

What You'll Bring

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret production data and solve technical challenges using first principlesDesign of mechanical equipment, fixturing, and tooling in CAD (SolidWorks preferred, CATIA is also a plus)Multiple new equipment installations and experience developing automated manufacturing equipmentMultiple new product startups and experience transitioning products from prototype to productionDemonstrated experience collaborating effectively across engineering, operations, and maintenance teams3+ years of experience in high-volume, automated manufacturing environments with a focus on battery or automotive industriesDegree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience
