This Opportunity

Certerra has immediate opportunities for a Group Leader of Environmental Services in Tucson, Arizona. You will manage projects, mentor staff, and expand business activity. We are looking for a candidate with a broad range of experience spanning due diligence, NEPA environmental reviews, building science evaluations, remedial investigations and corrective actions, underground storage tank management, indoor air quality, asbestos and lead-based paint services, and industrial hygiene consulting. Experience in the construction industry is a plus.

This role will be working out of our Western Technology division in the Salt Lake City, UT location.

Your Impact

Your responsibilities will consist of supervising personnel and projects, directing and leading field activities, reviewing and interpreting data, and developing recommendations consistent with industry standards and regulatory guidelines. You will review technical reports for accuracy, completeness and conformity to scopes and specifications. As a mentor, you will coach staff on project-related tasks and provide encouragement, advice, and direction on overall task performance. The Group Leader will offer guidance for the advancement of professional, academic, workplace and technical competencies. Through daily interactions, you will assist junior staff with identifying career path interests and encouraging training and development to achieve their objectives. You will participate in the interview and candidate selection process for staff additions to the group.

 

Your business development activities will manage existing client relationships, influence business development, and promote growth. The Group Leader designs scopes of services to meet clients’ needs and develops competitive pricing and budgets that are competitive in the marketplace and achieve the firm’s profitability goals. You will collaborate with technical experts and marketing personnel to prepare and submit winning proposals for long-term, competitively bid government contracts.

Key Responsibilities

· In conjunction with senior level peers, promote and expand service-sector capabilities in one or more disciplines including asbestos, lead-based paint, indoor air quality, industrial hygiene, occupational safety, environmental exposures, construction/infrastructure management, and building sciences.

· Participate in collaborative efforts on cross-discipline projects both within your assigned office, and regionally across the company’s business footprint.

· Manage budgets, schedules, deliverables, and consultation to meet established project and business metrics for overall project performance.

· You will coach and mentor junior staff on job performance, data quality objectives, and reporting.

· Provide consultation and guidance regarding local, state, and federal regulations as they impact work practices, strategies, and project outcomes.

· Requirements:

· Bachelor of Science in chemistry, biology, geology, engineering, or industrial hygiene.

· OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER Training with current updates.

· Professional registration as an engineer or geologist, or as a Certified Industrial Hygienist or Certified Safety Professional, preferred, but not required

· AHERA accreditations for asbestos inspector, management planner, contractor supervisor, site monitor, and abatement designer.

· EPA or State certifications for lead-based paint risk assessor.

· Minimum 5 years’ experience with environmental, building sciences and industrial hygiene.

· Valid driver’s license acceptable per our insurance policy

· Clear pre-hire drug screen

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
